Instructions for the assembly and installation of internal doors

  1. Warning! The assembly and installation of doors should always be carried out by a qualified professional.
  2. Disregard of instructions and actions carried out by non-professionals may cause irreversible structural damage to the doors, thus rendering you ineligible for warranty services.
  3. Prior to installation, the doors should be kept in the space for which they are intended for two or three days in order to allow them to adjust to the environment.
  4. Internal doors may only be installed in spaces with complete and clean floor covering in place.

Required tools and materials:

  • level
  • screwdriver set
  • wood cutting knife (suited to cut 45-degree corners) or a mitre saw
  • measuring tape
  • try square
  • drill bit set (ranging 1-8 mm in diameter)
  • wooden wedges and cross-bars (bars with a cross-section of 40 x 40 or 40 x 30 mm may be used)
  • sealing foam: one 750ml canister per 2-3 door sets

Before you start work, be sure to check the following:

  1. Whether the door construction is complete;
  2. Whether the size of the door leaf and frame suits the wall opening (the door set must have a 1-2 cm assembly gap around it).

Assembly of the door frame (hinges, locks):

  1. The assembly set includes pegs (5 pcs., 8x30 mm) and wood screws (2 pcs., 5x40 mm)
  2. Work should be carried out on a flat surface (a tabletop or the floor)
  3. Before assembly, jambs should be ground down to fit the gap between the floor and the door leaf, making allowance for flooring (a total of 7-10 mm)
  4. Connect components of the frame, fastening the wood screws at an angle of 45 degrees (perpendicular to the joint); make sure the parts are not skewed
  5. Using appropriate screwdrivers, fasten the door hinges, the lock and the strike plate in their intended place

Installing the door set into the wall opening:

  1. In order to protect the surface of the door from being damaged, we recommend the use of spacers during installation.
  2. Using wedges, immobilise the upper part of the frame at joint level.
  3. Using a level, set the jambs vertically, securing them at the bottom with wedges.
  4. Measure the distance between the jambs at the top of the opening and, using wedges, secure them at exactly the same distance at the bottom using wedges (on the lock side), and set up a cross-bar against the lower wedges.
  5. Using a try square, check the inside angles of the frame; if necessary, adjust them using wedges.
  6. Insert the leaf and check the gap between the leaf and the frame: with the door shut, the gap must be of equal width along its entire length and sufficiently wide to allow the door to be opened. If necessary, adjust the gap using wedges.
  7. Set up additional cross-bars: one at the level of the upper hinge and the other 200-250 mm below the lock.
  8. Once all the cross-bars have been installed, once more check the gap between the leaf and the frame.
  9. Make sure that the door and the lock work properly: when left slightly ajar, the door does not shut or open wide on its own.
  10. To avoid defects in adjustment, we recommend that you avoid shutting the door completely and frequently before it is fully installed.
  11. Secure the frame using sealing foam by filling up the gap between the wall and the frame. Warning! Make sure that the foam does not touch the frame or the door leaf.
  12. Verify and pay attention to the time the foam is to set fully – this depends on the type of foam (indicated on the canister). After the appropriate time has passed, carefully remove the wedges and cross-bars and cut off leftover foam with a knife.
  13. Secure the door frame with wood screws (5x70 mm) or anchors (depending on the quality of the wall, using the appropriate openings below the lock and hinges. In order to accomplish this, the door should be taken off the hinges and the lock and strike plate should be removed. When using anchors, openings with the appropriate diameter must be drilled.

Installing door mouldings and slats

  1. If the size of the frame is smaller than the thickness of the wall opening, we recommend the use of slats.
  2. With the help of a knife, cut the slats into the necessary lengths and install them in the groove of the door frame, securing them in several places with sealing foam.
  3. To prevent the deformation of the slat once the foam expands, use only a small amount of foam.
  4. Once the foam has set completely, you can begin installing the mouldings: bend the components to their appropriate positions and make the necessary markings.
  5. Using a special knife or saw, cut the end of the moulding at a 45-degree angle.
  6. Secure the moulding with nails, drilling 1 mm openings for them beforehand.
